Its called the Sky Dweller, and it looks super awesome. To bad it costs like 30k.

I get wanting and paying top dollar for an expensive watch. Sure they're status symbols and whatnot but that $30k price tag is insane. You could by a fully loaded FosT that'll take you from A to B, quickly and often times sideways. You can bring stuff around in it and you can even bring others in it!
The watch tells time. Sure it tells time insanely well and accurately and even looks pretty. But so does my phone. And my phone will even automatically update for daylight savings. Plus do all of my other phone things.

You can do better for $30k if we're still talking watches...

First, these promo shots are Photoshopped to the max. Second, to those that don't know why anybody would spend good money on a watch, keep in mind that the kinds of watches you get for >>$5000 represent more than just timekeeping. There is (or should be) a story, a history or cultural significance behind the model. Of course, it should also embody the highest of levels of human horological know-how, countless hours of skilled labour and artistry. Sweat shop, mass produced items these are not.

Well this was the first pic I saw of it. I felt Oppo didnt need to deal with some journalists arm hair. Still looks very nice. And I would never buy it, it looks real nice, but not three times nicer than a Submariner.

Oh, god, the hairy arm pic. There is simply no way to shoot a watch on a man's wrist and make it look good.

I've only seen it done once. And that was with this picture.

i'm a proud owner of a rolex daytona and a vintage rolex oyster perpetual datejust and a cartier santos dumont....you are right, they are more than just timepieces, they are statement pieces....for me, they don't represent a feeling of superiority as is commonly associated with expensive watches...rather, they represent my exquisite taste and and appreciation for beauty beyond the aesthetic...a patek philippe may be next but we will see
that being said, this watch from the post here looks fantastic but i'll have to see it in person to decide

I like a good watch that is made well and will last and can be repaired. I try to follow that logic for everything I buy. I've had my Omega Speedmaster moon watch for many years now, they are not cheap but not $30k. I got mine at an estate auction, I have had it ever since.

I wish that there was some sort of enthusiast database collecting good real-life photos of watches. I'm thinking about buying myself a new (much lower-end) watch online. The pictures I can find all look gorgeous, but I really can't trust them to represent what it will look like in real life. I haven't found the exact model that I want in any shops, though.
